Meet the Team
Dr. John P. O’Connor, DC graduated from Life University in Marietta, Georgia. In his state of the art facility, he bridges the gap between performance and rehabilitation. He brings his will to compete and compassion with him every day as his life mission is to help others achieve their dreams, live life to the fullest & be their best.
Dr. Jessica L. Horowitz, DC graduated from Life University in Marietta, Georgia. She is a second generation Chiropractic Physician and she loves working with young children and maintaining a strong philosophy based practice. . She has training in biomechanics, pain management and TMJ dysfunction. Dr. Horowitz has worked with patients of all ages and problems, including babies and toddlers with structural issues form the traumatic birthing process to geriatric patients with difficulty walking due to pain and weakness. Dr. Horowitz believes that staying healthy is hard work and with the help and guidance from everyone at Velocity Chiropractic and Sports Rehabilitation optimal health can be achieved.
Dr. Kristopher R. Tardio, DC graduated in 2011 with his Doctorate of Chiropractic from the University of Bridgeport Chiropractic College. As an avid athlete and former college basketball player, Dr. Tardio sought out extensive post-graduate training on working with athletes. He is a member of the National Academy of Sports Medicine Performance Enhancement Specialist, a Titleist Performance Institute Medical Professional and utilizes the K-Vest 3 dimensional motion analyzation with biofeedback training. In addition, he continued his clinical education with post graduate certifications and specialties in: spinal biomechanics, motor vehicle accidents, crash dynamics and its relationship to causality, and MRI interpretation of spinal pathology. His approach to patient care is tailored to each individual’s needs and treatment is evidence based.
Dr. Nick Occhipinti, DC graduated in 2021 from the University of Bridgeport School of Chiropractic. Prior to earning his doctorate, Dr. Nick worked for years in the fitness and strength industry helping athletes achieve their performance goals. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Exercise Science, is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), and USA Weightlifting Level 1 Performance Coach (USAW-L1). As a chiropractic physician, Dr. Nick works with his patients to develop personalized care plans that focus on getting them back to the activities that are meaningful to them. Dr. Nick has been featured in multiple media outlets and is an expert writer for several online publications in health and performance.
Physical Therapy Team
Dr. Rachel Buriani, DPT joined Velocity Chiropractic & Sports Rehab as the director of physical therapy in May 2020. She was raised in West Long Branch, New Jersey and played soccer, basketball, and lacrosse throughout high school at Shore Regional. She completed her Bachelors of Health Science and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of the Sciences Philadelphia. In her free time, Rachel enjoys hanging out with friends and family, hiking, going to the beach, and traveling. She also enjoys watching live sports including cheering on the U.S. women’s national soccer team.
Dr. Emily Coyle, DPT grew up in Oceanport, New Jersey and graduated from Drexel University with her Bachelors and Doctorate in Physical Therapy. At Drexel, she was a D1 rower for the crew team and won the Women’s Henley Regatta. Emily treats sports and orthopedics and has a passion for manual therapy to accelerate physical therapy results.
Christian Corcoran, ATC was born and raised in Pennsylvania. He attended Penn State University and joined the Velocity team in 2019. He enjoys lacrosse, going to the beach, and playing ukulele. Christian’s favorite thing about athletic training is watching an athlete rehab from injury and return to sport.
PJ Carafago, ATC is from Howell, NJ and attended Seton Hall University. He enjoys ice hockey, working out, and helping people feel better. He joined Velocity in February 2021 and we are lucky to have him on our team.
Amanda D’Alessandro, ATC grew up in Colonia, New Jersey and graduated from Towson University for her undergrad and Merrimack College for her Master’s Degree. She enjoys playing soccer, cooking, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.
Steven Barsky, Rehab Tech attended Colts Neck High School and graduated from Tufts University with a Biology degree. Enjoys football, exercising, and spending time with family and friends. Loves being part of the Velocity Team that is committed to helping people improve their livelihood.
